RECOMMENDED FOR: INTERMEDIATE – ADVANCED RIDERS

Moray used to be an laboratory for acclimatisation during the Inka Empire. Here the Andeans acclimated many different plants that they brought from the Amazon and from the coast. They needed to adapt them to grow at high altitudes (cold areas) to be able to use them for agricultural purposes or for medicine.

The Andeans discovered a natural groove in the ground that they adapted to use it for building a marvelous circular terrace complex where they experimented with the acclimatisation process until finally they developed a strong new seed that could grow in the Andes.
To reach Moray we need to ride up to the top of the mountain that the locals call “The frog” because looks like a frog.
When we reach the top, we will have a panoramic view of the Sacred Valley and the Vilcanota river, against a marvelous background of many snow covered mountains.
After visiting Moray, our next stop will be “Salinas”. In order to get there we need to ride downhill to get to Maras, a traditional town.
On our way back home we will follow the Vilcanota river, cross the two suspended bridges of “Tarabamba” and “Paucarbamba”, and finally arrive at the Hacienda.
